Jarmel Damon Hodges was born and raised in Battle Creek, Michigan. He attended Battle Creek Public
Schools. He was the proud father of two very beautiful girls A'Miya and JaNa'e. He left behind a
very strong and loving fiancee' Shamille Lockwood, brothers; Damareo, Stephan, Greg, and Phillip,
sisters; LaBreesha and LaNeesha, and Chanelle, his mother Betty and fathers Randy and Leonard. His
younger brother Randy Jr.(Block)joined Jarmel in heaven just 6 weeks later. R.I.P. Block!
Jarmel, Monk as we called him, was one of the sweetest and goofiest people I knew. Before you knew
it was him coming you would see his big beautiful smile. We met through a mutual friends a few
years back, and that was all she wrote. He was the type of person you couldn't help but to love.
He always had a way to make you smile, even when he wasn't trying, and he was one of the best
friends I ever had (One of the only ones to keep it real). He was there for me, and many others,
when I needed someone the most. I only hope that I was able to do the same for him.
I really want him to know just how much he's missed, and how he truly touched so many people. WE

I guess today was no different than any other, but I felt the need to talk to you bro. I was kicking it with some of the homies the other night, and I almost picked up the phone to call you. It still doesn't seem real to me that I won't see you anymore, and what hurts the most is no one could've seen this coming. You didn't deserve this. You were such a good person, with such a good heart; such a beautiful person, with such a beautiful smile. Some things I'll never understand. I try not to question God, because I know that all things work out for the good, and he will get the glory, but damn, I miss you. I didn't know I would miss you soooooo much, because at first it didn't seem real, but now days have went by. And days have turned to weeks, and weeks to months, before we know it it'll be a year. I'm just hoping that the hurt won't grow anymore as time passes on. I've been trying to get the girls, but every time I try something comes up. I just want you to know that I will never forget you, and I want your family to know that I am always here if they need me.
